Dental Checkups

What Happens During A Dental Checkup?
Dr. Shah, Dr. Kashyap and our team will thoroughly examine your oral cavity, looking for concerns or signs of change, as well as an oral cancer screening. Dr. Shah and Dr. Kashyap will then take a more detailed look with the assistance of the following advanced dental technology:

Intraoral Cameras: We will take snapshots of the interior portion of your mouth through a quick, comfortable process. Dr. Shah and Dr. Kashyap can then more clearly and accurately explain what she sees inside of your mouth, by presenting you with a visual image.
Digital X-rays: By placing a sensor within your mouth at strategic locations, we can gather 2D images of the inner workings of your oral structure. Digital X-rays offer efficient, comfortable imaging that we can see almost instantly.

Why Should I Schedule Dental Checkups?
During your dental checkup, your dentist, Dr. Shah, Dr. Kashyap, and our team will look for abnormalities or signs of change. This may include cavities, impacted wisdom teeth, lesions, areas of irritation, inflamed gums, or other symptoms that point to an illness or developmental concern. The sooner we identify these changes, the faster we can provide treatment. The quicker we begin treatment, the greater the rate of success.

Dental Cleanings

What Happens During A Dental Cleaning?
We will begin your cleaning with an oral cancer screening exam, and then carefully removing plaque build-up from your teeth with special tools. Once your teeth are free of plaque, we will then gently finish cleaning your teeth with a polishing tool and special toothpaste.

Why Should I Schedule Dental Cleanings?
You cannot thoroughly clean your teeth and remove plaque with your own brushing and flossing. For beautiful, healthy teeth, we suggest this preventive treatment, so you may enjoy the following benefits:

  • Thorough plaque removal to discourage tooth decay
  • A beautiful smile full of shining teeth
  • Tips on practicing optimal home care
  • You may avoid costly restorative treatments like fillings by preventing cavities and other oral diseases

Ultrasonic Scaling

What Is Ultrasonic Scaling?
When plaque hardens and moves beneath your gumline, and results in gum disease, you require treatment beyond our traditional dental cleaning. Our on-staff periodontist, a specialist in gum disease and treatment, will perform a “deep cleaning” called ultrasonic scaling. This preventive treatment removes the plaque buildup while smoothing any erosion on the surfaces of your teeth.

During your deep cleaning, our periodontist will use an electronic scaler. This is a handheld electronic wand that gently removes plaque. The wand vibrates for improved comfort. For sensitive patients, we may apply a local anesthetic before treatment, and may opt to treat one-quarter of your mouth per visit.

What Are The Benefits Of Ultrasonic Scaling?
Ultrasonic scaling can greatly improve your oral health. Because you cannot treat periodontal disease on your own, a neglected problem will only continue to worsen. Visiting us for a deep cleaning will ensure the following benefits:

  • Reduced inflammation
  • The removal of new and hardened plaque from your teeth and beneath your gumline
  • Ultrasonic offers improved comfort when compared with manual deep cleaning techniques
  • Prevention of periodontal disease damage, including tooth loss, gum recession, and jaw damage
